The right diagnoses are curtail to the right treatment.  I want share what has worked for me.  I was able offer an all natural product that is safe for newborns and nursing mothers.  These chemical free products could be redistributed to the parents that needed them.  In some case schools have even help drives to help pay for other activities such as trips or just as a fundraiser.

Inspect- all household members should be checked by another person for lice and / or nits (eggs)- use magnifying glass in bright light to help you see the lice and nits (eggs)-use a tool, such as a comb or two unsharpened pencils to lift and part the hair-look for tiny nits near the scalp, beginning at the back to the neck and behind the ears-small sections of hair (1-2 inches wide) should be examined at a time unlike dandruff, nits stick to the hair. Dandruff should move when lightly touched-If either lice or nits (eggs) are found, treat with Nix crème rinse. Treat-wash hair with a shampoo without conditioner. Do not us a shampoo that contains a conditioner or a conditioner alone since this may decrease the activity of Nix. Rinse with water. Towel dry hair so it is damp but not wet. Shake the bottle of Nix well. Completely saturate the hair and scalp with nix, begin to apply nix behind the ears and at the back of the neck. Keep nix out of the eyes. Protect the eyes with a wash cloth or towel.
Leave nix on the hair for 10 minutes, but no longer. Rinse with warm water.
Towel dry and comb out tangles. If live lice are seen
days or more after the first treatment,
a second treatment should be given.
Remove lice/Nits- remove nits by combing the hair wit the special
small tooth comb provided. Remaining nits may removed by hand
(using a throw away glove). or cutting the nits out. Use the nit comb the nit comb
provided and make sure the hair remains slightly damp while removing nits-
if the hair dries during combing, dampen it slightly with water.
part the hair into 4 sections. Work on one section at a time. Longer hair
may take more time (1-2hours)-start at the top of the head on the section
you have picked-with on hand. lift a 1-2 inch wide strand of hair.
Get the teeth of the comb as close to the scalp as possible and comb
with a firm, even motion away from the scalp to the end of the hair. Use clips to pin back each strand of  hair after you have
combed out the nits. Clean the comb completely as you go. Wipe the nits from the comb with a
tissue and throw away the tissue in a sealed plastic bag to prevent the lice from coming back. After combing,
recheck the entire head for nits and repeat combing if necessary. check the affected head daily to remove any nits
that you might have missed.

Helpful hints- Self medication is
not advised since it is impossible
to inspect yourself for nits and lice. Personal combs and brushes may be disinfected by soaking in hot water (above 130 F) for 5 to 10 minutes. All personal clothing items bad bed linen should be disinfected by machine washing in hot water and drying, using the hot cycle of the dryer for at least 20 minutes.

Directions- Important: Read warnings before use Adults and children 2 years and over: Inspect- Check each household member with a magnifying glass in bright light for lice/nits(eggs). If either lice or nits are found, treat with this product. Treat- apply thoroughly to dry hair or other affected area. For head lice, first apply
behind ears and to back of neck. Allow product to remain for 10 minutes, but no longer. Use warm water to form a lather, shampoo, then thoroughly rinse. For head lice, towel dry hair and comb out tangles. Remove lice and their eggs (nits). Use a fine-tooth or special lice/nit comb. Remove any remaining nits by hand (using a throw away glove). hair should remain slightly damp while
removing nits. if hair dries during combing, dampen slightly with water. For head lice, part hair into sections. 
Do one section at a time starting on top of head. Longer hair may take to 1 to 2 hours. Lift a 1-to 2 inch wide strand of hair.
Place comb as close to scalp as possible and comb with a firm, even motion away from scalp. Pin back each strand of hair after combing.
Clean comb often. Wipe nits away with tissue and discard in a plastic bag. Seal bag and discard to prevent lice from coming back. After combing, thoroughly recheck for lice/nits that you missed. a second treatment must be done in 7 to 10 days to kill any newly hatched lice. Begin to apply permethrin lotion 1% behind the ears and  at the back of the neck.
Keep permethrin lotion 1% out of the eyes. Protect the eyes with a washcloth or towel. Leave permethrin lotion 1% on the hair for 10 minutes, but no longer. Rinse with warm water. towel dry hair and comb out tangles. If live lice are seen seven days or more after the first treatment, a second treatment should be given.
